Some say the Zeiss Ikon 22 Anamorphic 1.5x is exactly the same lens as the Iscomorphot 8/1.5x. Some say the only difference is the coating that the Ikon got inputs from Zeiss. No matter what they say, the truth is the Ikon 22 has both bigger front and rear elements, not that big, but still bigger than the Isomorphot 8/1.5x. The approximate front/rear sizes are 36.88mm vs 35.82mm and 22mm (hence the name Zeiss Ikon 22) vs 20mm if you’re curious.
The smearing issue that always comes with each Iscomorphot 8/1.5x is still there but greatly reduced, maybe due to the bigger elements or the different optical formula, no one knows for certain…
This was shot with Panasonic S1H camera in 6K 3:2 OG with the Zeiss Biotar 5,8cm f=2 as a taking lens. Everything was shot at f/2.8. The anamorphic adapter used was, as the title suggested, the Zeiss Ikon 22/1.5x.
Since I shot this in OG, the result is the 2.25:1 aspect ratio. I didn’t bother cropping or even think about shooting in 16:9 because I wanted to show the coverage of the Ikon 22, which turned out to be very acceptable for an anamorphic adapter that’s made for 8mm film cameras. Not to mention that it has a front variable diopter builtin with that tiny lens.
